Geography of Punjab
Punjab lies in northwestern India between the Indus and Ganges rivers at 29′30″ N to 32′32″ N latitude and 73′55″ to 76′50″E longitude. It is bordered by Pakistan on the West, the Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir on the North, Himachal Pradesh on its Northeast and Haryana and Rajasthan to its South. The arid Southern part of the state borders the Thar Desert, and the Siwalik Range rises sharply in the North. The total area of Punjab is 50,362 Sq. Kms.
Situated between the two provinces of Punjab and N.W.F.P, the ICT meets Punjab on east, south and north side i.e., Rawalpindi district while N.W.F.P on the north-west which is Haripur district.
The Police jurisdiction extends up to 30 minutes drive which limits the police reaction time.
The ICT is divided into urban and rural areas so is the police district.
