Nizamabad
Nizamabad pronunciation is a city and a municipal corporation in Nizamabad District in the Telangana region of the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the headquarters of the district. The Boundaries of Nizamabad district are Karimnagar district, Medak district, Nandhedu district in Maharastra state and Adilabad district in the East, South, West and North directions respectively. Forest area occupies 21% of the district area. Quality Timber is extracted from these forests, Tamarind and Honey are the other products obtained from these woods. Bodhan Sugar Factory, the biggest sugar factory in Andhra Pradesh is a major industrial establishment of the district.
Confectioneries and Alcohol units are also found in some parts of the district. The project built on river Manjeera at Achampeta, Pocharam, and Poochampadu, Ramadugu Projects are the major irrigation sources. All Degree colleges are affiliated to the Osmania University - Hyderabad.
The Major Crops of Nizamabad are Paddy, Maize, Ground nut, Red and Green grams, Sugarcane, Chilly. There are many rivers in Nizamabad like Godavari, Manjeera, Phalungi, Yedlakattavagu. Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Bodhan, Armur these are the major cities of Nizamabad district.
There is a beautiful lake “Asok Sagar”, with a neatly laid out garden, beautiful rocks and a lovely 18 ft statue of Goddess Saraswati in the middle of the lake, just 7 km away from Nizamabad on the way to Basar. Ali Sagar is a beautiful lake with a hill top view. The famous Basar Saraswati Temple is located 35 km from here.There is a very old Siva’s temple called Kanteshwar in city. Its about at least 500 years old. Is equal status with the Kashi Vishweshwara temple in Varanasi. There is a Hanuman temple in Sarangapur (about 10 km away) which was founded by Sri Samartha Ramadas (Sivaji’s Guru). It is situated in beautiful location on the hill top.
