Guwahati (Assam)
Guwahati is a major city in eastern India, often considered as the gateway to the North-East Region (NER) of the country and is the largest city within the region. Dispur, the capital of the Indian state of Assam is situated within the city.
Guwahati is the most important tourist destination in Assam. The city lying on the banks of River Brahamaputra is the largest commercial, industrial and educational center of the region.
Fixed between the picturesque hills of the eastern flanks of the Himalayan mountain range, Guwahati houses the political capital of the state, Dispur.
