Ahmedabad is known for its rich classical music and Gujarati folk art and dance. Festivals are celebrated with people performing Garba — the folk dance of Gujarat.

Indian classical, Hindustani or Carnatic and the lighter ghazals are the traditional music which gives divine pleasure to the people of Ahmedabad. Apart from these, the city organizes several musical concerts of contemporary singers and dancers.

Musicians and instrumentalists from across the world come to perform at the popular classical music festival held each 1 January by the Saptak School of Music.
